    NOVELS

    THE DUNBRIDGE CHRONICLES

There are four books in this series following ups and downs in the life of the Neil Fisher as he starts his three year curacy in the Bedfordshire market town of Dunbridge.  There we meet a colourful array of characters, including the formidable Reverend Margaret Prowse, and members of both the church and the town community during times of celebration, sorrow, romance, fun, fights, fear and inspiration.  This down-to earth series echoes with familiar, poignant experiences that resonate with us all.  Neil’s curacy lasts three years, an ongoing story which is described year by year in the first three books in the series:

    IF YOU FOLLOW ME

The last book was added as an extra because the original trilogy had proved to be so popular.  SAINTS AND SAILORS tells how Neil, now settled in his own new parish, is invited by church members from Dunbridge to bring some of his new congregation to join them on a Christian Cruise around the British Isles.  This book is rich in entertaining and endearing characters visiting inspirational and historic locations of interest to Christians, from the Northern Isles to the Normandy Beaches.  This book stands alone, and can be enjoyed even if you haven’t read the previous DUNBRIDGE titles.

    STORIES BEHIND OUR FAVOURITE HYMNS

With her almost encyclopaedic knowledge of hymns and worship songs old and new, Pam has written several books which give an insight into the life of the writer, and why a particular hymn has remained popular down the ages.

In this handy book, Pam has reflected on 160 favourite hymns, both traditional and modern, with their words that resonate with comfort, forgiveness, prayer, guidance and blessing.  It is an ideal resource for those in ministry who may find inspiration here when one of these hymns needs to be introduced during worship.

    HEAR MY SONG

Pam has produced two collections of 40 favourite hymns, LOVE SO AMAZING and THEN SINGS MY SOUL.  Each hymn is introduced with insights into the person who was moved to write the words, revealing the challenges of their own lives which make us understand more clearly why their words have come to mean so much to many generations down the years.  The chapter on each hymn ends with a prayer. Both these books would be a great resource for ministry.

LOVE SO AMAZING features 40 favourites including WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS, GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS, AND CAN IT BE, DEAR LORD AND FATHER OF MANKIND and HOW GREAT THOU ART

In the same very readable style as LOVE SO AMAZING, THEN SINGS MY SOUL brings insight into hymns like BE THOU MY GUARDIAN AND MY GUIDE; GUIDE ME, O THOU GREAT JEHOVAH; MY HOPE IS BUILT ON NOTHING LESS; O JESUS I HAVE PROMISED, and  ROCK OF AGES

    ARTHUR’S GARDEN

    A trip down Memory Lane

As Pam looks out of her kitchen window, she can’t help smiling at the old wooden sign that says ARTHUR’S GARDEN.  It was given to her after her Great Uncle Arthur died in 1986, having lived in the same Victorian terraced house since he was born there in 1906, and in which his mother brought up eleven children.  Over the fences of those long thin gardens at the back of the houses, secrets were whispered, tragedies shared, births celebrated and deaths mourned through two world wars, several generations and a stoic mix of laughter and tears.  Along with peas, cabbages, potatoes and a lovely line in weeds, children grew and blossomed here, just as they did in similar gardens up and down Britain. With entertaining and touching songs and poems from the time, ARTHUR’S GARDEN is a heart-warming trip down Memory Lane that will ring with memories for families everywhere.  A gift your Nan or Grandad is sure to love!
